I have some non-standard Audi 17" wheels on my V6 petrol A6 and the ride is very hard on current 36psi.

I may be using wrong pressures, does anyone know what the true pressures should be for these wheels on a C5 petrol which were optional on some models & they are not incompatible?

There is no wish to compromise handling/wear for a softer ride!

My 1.9 TDI A6 runs at 30psi all round (as per fuel flap factory instructions), wearing 235/45/17 boots.

So you could most likely reduce the pressures to that/slightly below that value.

Mine came with that size from the factory and the sticker in the filler cap says 34psi. I always thought that was too much, but any less and she ate the outer edges of the tyres. They were Dunlops though

Mine is a V6 TDI Q Avant tho, so she's a heavy beast at 1.8 tons

My `04 A6 2.5 SE Avant has 235/45/17 factory fitted and the fuel cap says 32 F&R: 38F&R fully loaded.

I am running my A6 1.9 TDI on 30 psi all round. It doesnt half make a difference to ride comfort. the recommended 34 psi is a real boneshaker! I havnt seen any signs of uneven wear yet after a year at these pressures, but thereagain there is usually only me in the car and its never heavily loaded.

Mine is a 2002 2.5 TDI Q Avant Sport running 235/45/17 Bridgestones. The outer edges on mine have worn too! I have kept a very close eye on the pressures, which i run at the factory setting of 34 psi, due to the price of replacements and i to find it a little harsh on the ride comfort. I had the tracking checked last week and it was only 3mm out on one side, I'm thinking of dropping the pressures to aroung 32psi, but I wouldn't like to go much lower than that. Regards to all,
    Lee.

2.7T Quattro auto. I run the recommended 36psi all round because I do a lot of motorway driving. It hits the fuel economy if I run lower pressures.
