  1. Exhaust gas warning light (Diesel + DPF)

I just had the amber exhaust gas emission warning light come on permanently (you know, the one you have to look up in the manual because it looks like a helicopter and is top left in the speedo!)

The only significant thing is I filled up with half a tank of diesel 30 miles previous so I hope its not another contaminated fuel saga (Waitrose, Swaffham, Norfolk).

Any ideas? Lambda sensor failure? DPF problem? the car is a May 07 SEL Estate 170PS DPF with 30,000 on the clock.

    Hi Sathound

Mine did that a couple weeks back (07 sport 140bhp), dealer fixed it under warranty, fuel temperature sensor and wiring replaced

    Thanks guys,

The car is booked in for Monday and I'll update the thread with the outcome for the benefit of the forum search.

The exhaust gas warning failure appears sorted. It took an overnight stay for the car + courtesy car due to parts ordering. The sensor warning light (the engine/helicopter amber one at the 2000 rpm position in the rev counter)has gone out after apparent replacement of the sensor. I have no confirmation of any ECU reprogramme and the car appears to drive normally with no apparent loss of power or torque on the normal 25 mile commute, just the same old aggressive 170PS turbo lag and crap 1st gear torque as ever.

I will update if necessary over the next few days experience.
