Exhaust gas warning light (Diesel + DPF)

Given that it is a 2.0 tdi, there is a fair chance an injector has failed. Ask the garage for the fault code read and post it on here if you want more info.

Hi folks

Tonight while driving my engine [140 Tdi] died completely and without warning - engine exhaust gas warning light with "fault garage" came on. Car would not start again - engine turns but makes no effort to fire. Had to get a transporter to recover car.

Any ideas what might be wrong - I have owned the car from new and it came out of warranty at the end of Feb. - fully serviced etc. - in fact last service was 6 weeks ago.

Ask for a VW contribution mate, as said above you are staring at £1000 minimum, and 3.5k worst case, and if you are under 100k and have full VW S/H aim for at least 75% if not better, good luck.

2 injectors and injector harness sorted the problem - £1300 later the car is running smoothly!

I will be writing to VW but don't hold out much hope of any contribution from them towards the cost. I am due to change the car inside the next 3 months, so guess what I won't be buying!!

When you write to them, ask them if they think you should buy another VW, especially as yours is not an isolated problem.
