The throttle body is dirty and needs removing, cleaning and then re-adapting to the ECU using a diagnostic system such as VAG-COM. I am assuming this is a 2.0L with an AGG engine?

I'm intending to attempt this tomorrow as I'm having the same problem. Unfortunately though I haven't yet bought a vag-com cable - will it definitely need re-adapting or if I'm careful will it be fine without?

    Thanks in advance

Remove and clean it but you may find you have a high idle after. Just buying a fleaBay VAG-COM cable won’t help you, it has to be a registered version of VAG-COM so you will have to go to the Ross Tech web site and pay $99 to register the software to be able to perform the adaptation.

Removing it looked a bit complicated I don't think I've got the right tools to remove some of the pipe fasteners and I didn't want to break them so I just took the air intake off and cleaned the throttle body on the car with a bit of carb cleaner and a soft cloth.

Idle is noticably smoother and when you clutch in whilst coming to a stop it catches it at about 850rpm rather than dropping to 400ish or stalling.

    Thanks for the advice!
