hi guys can anyone help please. I have a 2000 x reg golf gt tdi 6 speed. what has happened is that whilst the car is stationary and the tyres are loaded and i turn the steering to the right it makes quite a few nocking, clocking noices this only on the odd ocasion happens when i turn left. also when i reverse the car it somethings makes a screatching noice. when i drive the car the noices disapers as the tyres dont have much weight put on them. Also when i rock the steering whilst stationary there is a knocking noice from the steering. ALL THE NOICE'S COME FROM THE RIGHT HAND SIDE OF THE CAR/WHEEL O/S/F

    THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP....

The knocking when stationary is probably trackrod inner ends. Not sure about the creaking. My Bora creaks when turning left at low speeds. This could be the rack or maybe a top mount & bearing.

The inner ends, ie: the bits covered by plastic bellows coming out of the steering rack.

I had knocking in my steering, turned out to be the column. It was replaced at just 12,000 miles.......VW reliability?
