Hi, I have a 2003 A4 1.9Tdi quattro with 63000 miles, with rubbish brakes. They used to be brilliant and have just slowly got worse over the years. I service them regularly and all the calipers are as free as can be. When braking I seem to have to put alot more effort in to stopping than I used to. I have noticed that I can stop the car quite well, then drive off and try the same again within a few seconds and there seems to be much less braking force. The pedal comes up when I start the engine so I assume that the servo and vaccuum are working, but maybe not properly. Anyone have any ideas or similar problems?

    Cheers, Alan

Does sound rather like the servo. If it works well but then doesn't a very short time later it is a bit of a giveaway. Sounds like there just isn;t enough vacuum built up.
