Ah, the dreaded Passat flood strikes again.

Have you checked your Plenum chamber recently?

I have a similar problem with my offside rear window - Passat 2000 V5 est. - it clicks but no attempt at movement. I have checked the wiring where it comes thro the door pillar and there is no power on the Red/White. Your post says under the passenger seat, I guess thats front ? If so does it mean taking out the seat, I've got Haynes manual and it says I need a special cable to ground the seat air bag if i take it out - is that beyond a diyer? I've read the posts about water in the car and I don't think I've had that but its over nine years old so who knows.

    thanks

Never touch the air bag wires or connect anything to them.. Disconnected battery. Wait 10 minutes. Unplug air bag connector under seat, remove seat. Wires under carpet, passenger front. Unwrap the wires and look carefully for corrosion especially at soldered joints. Easy diy job.
