ABS and EPS lights stay on

I have a VW Passat 2.0 SE 2003 ,I have a abs and eps light staying on, I checked and i had no brake lights, so i changed the brake light switch and now have brake lights, after restarting the abs and eps light stayed off for a short while then came back on. but this time i still have brake lights, would the fault codes still remain if the fault is rectified? do the fault codes need to be cleared, and if so how can you clear them without the VAG-COM

Yes fault codes remain until you clear them with vag-com or similar. You need to fix the fault first or they will come straight back.

Thanks Martin1810 I put the new brake switch on but i had no brake lights until i depressed the brake pedal down fully. when they should come on when you press the pedal lightly. I pulled the brake pedal towards me because maybe the the sprung pin was not making the right contact with the pedal ,but pulled it to much and broke the brake switch

I had no choice but to put back on the old switch. now the brake lights come on when i press the pedal lightly g

reat also the abs and eps light has gone off. seems strange it now works with the old unit. is there a nack of putting on the new switch? do you need to do anything to the switch before you install it, i did push down the pedal when i installed the new one !! any idea's ?

The fault will come back, when you fit the next switch, do not press the pedal, push the switch into the bracket and it will ratchet the centre pin to the correct adjustment when you twist it into the bayonet fitting the centre pin locks at that setting.

I fitted a new switch this morning and all the assistance on the forum has helped. However my problem still persists - no brake lights.

I'm wondering if i damaged the switvch before installing it. I did push the plunger several times to get a feel for the action of the switch. Have I upset any setting on the switch itself?

I've tried several position by adjusting the amount the switch is screwd into the mount and thought I had it perfect - but no brake lights!

Is the answer to but another switch? Current one from german and swedish.

Have you checked the lamps and fuse?
The switch is a bayonet fit, how can you screw it in, its push in and twist

What year is your car, two pin or four pin switch, which GSF part number, what colour was the switch and did you fit it pedal down or up?

My car is x reg 1.8T estate.

Central brake lamp works so I'm puzzled - thought it was on the same circuit. Fuse looks ok.

Was sold the wrong lamps but the ones in place look ok. Think that must be my next thing to check - cheap and easy.

GSF number of part which ius 4 prong version - 931VGO2360. Installed with pedal depressed but it was tricky - I needed an extra pair of hands and may have inadvertantly allowed the pushrod of the switch to be depressed.

HELP - this is so bxxxxx annoying.

Fitting with the pedal depressed was the problem, the switch auto adjusts as you press it into the bracket and the plunger hits the pedal, as you twist it to lock the plunger is set at this distance. With the pedal depressed the plunger would lock at the fully out position and when the pedal came up it would wreck the switch.
