Hi, first post plz be gentle lol

I have an 03 VW Golf gt tdi pd150.

For the last couple of weeks it had been making a funny noise on and off on harsh acceleration, sounded a bit like the exhaust was knocking or blowing.

Then my partner took it to work last week and whatever it was that had been making the noise, went altogether.

The noise it is now making, sounds like an air thudding noise, if that makes sense? Like when you smack your hand over the top of a pipe, only on a bigger scale. It's hard to explain lol
Tried filming it and you can hear it on this video, but it sounds different to me

Tried blanking off the EGR valve, as it was suggested it could be that, but thats made no difference, and after reading as much as possible on here, it is now looking like its the cam shaft

Also, the air intake is blowing air out as well as sucking it in, if thats any help to anyone?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I had a similar fault where the air was blowing back and that was a blocked cat/exhaust.

Yes, sounds like the cam. Remove the EGR valve and pull the cam cover and check the lobes of the cam but often you can only tell when the cam is removed.
