    Hi there,

At the weekend my blower; wipers (front, back and washers); heated rear windscreen and fog lights all packed up. I checked on here and was overjoyed to see that it was just the X relay that had gone. So, i bought another, plugged it in, and... nothing. It still doesn't work. Having re-read the original thread, i checked my glovebox light and that doesn't work, either.

The original thread is here: https://www.vwaudiforum.co.uk/forum/s...ad.php?t=41853

Also, rather confusingly the relay was located at position 4, not position 8 as stated in the haynes.

    Any help greatly appreciated.

    Cheers,

    Scott Mac.

    p.s. My car is a 89 Mk2 8V GTi, if that helps.

If the X contact relay is at position 4, your car is a 1990 model, confirmed by the hazard warning light switch being on the steering column. Do your dipped beam headlights work?

Yep. Dipped and main beams work. And yep, my hazard switch is on the steering column. I guess 1990 is correct as it was registered in Nov 1989.

If the headlights work and the relay is a new genuine unit you are down to a fuse box fault as if the headlights work the ignition switch X contact is OK, either that or a wiring fault.
