  1. Wet carpet - drivers side

Posted a note a couple of weeks back about a wet boot. That seems fine - the sunroof drains were blocked so thought that was the end of the problem.

However, carpet in driver footwell is wet. It seems to originate on the left side 'wall'. It's not wet at the top of the side bit, it only starts about half way down from the top, and about halfway along.

I'm having to leave a cloth sticking out from under the car mat to to take up some of the water as otherwise it seems to move across the actual floor of the footwell.

Car is parked most days with bonnet upwards. I don't have loads of water, but the carpet is very soggy when you touch it. When I hoover the carpet I can see the water in it.

I have checked the level of the coolant today, and that isn't low. I'd go as far to say it was a little over-full, but the car was probably still cooling when I checked the level so that could explain it. Last weekend I sucked up about a cup full of liquid from the drivers side, and more today, so if it was coolant I would have expected to have seen the level be on the low side.

I haven't yet checked by pollen filter, but if this is split wouldn't it affect the passenger side, rather than the drivers side?

Can anyone tell me what pipe / drainage run might go via the part of the car where the leak is originating?

    Help!

    Thank you.

    Hi,

Can't help I'm afraid, but I've just bought a 51 plate estate (130 TDI) and also found a very wet carpet on the drivers side... Actually it ran back to the rear passenger seat as well. I'd originally put it down to the previous owner filling it with snow, but will keep a close eye on it now... Its been dry for 2 weeks.

    Good luck!

    Adrian
