105bhp is the old 1.9tdi 8valve PD engine (High pressure indirect injection)

140bhp is the new 2.0tdi 16v engine (Now common rail direct injection)

170bhp as the 140bhp but with a larger turbo, changed exhaust, inlet and ecu.

Hope this helps say thanks with the button if it does>>>>

Yep, the clues in the badge, TDI, Turbo Direct Injection.

140bhp is the new 2.0tdi 16v engine (Now common rail direct injection) can also be the 2.0 TDI PD engine.

The clue is "common rail" 105 bhp injection pump controls injection. Others, no injection pump, just a high pressure pump. Injectors control injection. That's why the injectors are so bl**dy expensive.

Just to let everyone know, I wouldn't take the VW officical bhp figures as gospel. In real life, the bhp is actually more than the official figures. According to Superchips website, the 105bhp actually produces 118bhp!
