I have a 96 Golf 1.9 TD ( Umwelt) which has developed a slight leak from the water pump. It looks a fairly simple job to change the pump but are there any snags that I should know about?

    Thanks,
    Ray

Have changed half dozen of these so far, fairly straight forward except that the 'o' rings that come with the pumps have never fitted tight enough in their groove so fall out when you offer the pump up and you cannot see this so they get pinched and resuilt in water leak just when you think that you have finished.
Cure is to buy 2 new 'o' rings from supplier of pump. They cost pence and could save you an hour or two.
