A VW Golf GTi, 2000, water appearing in boot. Its next to the lock, and VW badge.
How can I check if the wash wipe tube is damaged? What else could it be?
How complicated is it to fix?

This is prob your wash wipe water connection or the casing leaking on the motor as the suply runs through the middle, mine blew off due to the wash jet being blocked.

Alright mate I had exactly the same problem as you on my Golf GTI. Most likely to be a loose connection by the boot hinge or your rear window washer seal in the rotating arm might have failed and basically ******* water into your boot everytime you use it.

But check out this thread it might prove useful. Word of warning I don't use my rear window washer below 4-5 degrees just incase the water in the screen wash has frozen and the pressure build up forces open the connection either underneath the boot headlining on the n/s or the connection inside the boot lid.

    Another 'common' VW golf fault

But relatively easy to sort out if you have a spare afternoon and nimble fingers.
