    hi there.....
i have got a 2004 1.9 tdi a3 with flashing glow plug..... now i have heard about the brake light switch causing this, but my brake lights are working fine. the car also stalls when taking foot off accelerator pedal.....has this switch got a fuel cut off incorporated for mpg while braking??? had the car plugged in and only fault was a rpm flywheel sensor out of range........had it cleared and the fault stayed off when i plugged back in again.......any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. thanks guys..........

The switch is a dual unit, one circuit to the brake lights and the ECU and another to the ECU only as a double check for safety as the throttle is electronic so in an emergency throttle failure situation, pressing the pedal kills the throttle. What you describe is classic brake light switch failure and a fault code read should confirm this.

If the switch section that has a problem is the one the only sends a signal to the ECU, it will not affect the brake lights.
