    Hi there,

Just joined the forum today as i am looking to buy an A8 soon. I have been to see one today, 4.2 v8 2003 model. I was a bit puzzled by the tyres that were on it. It has 5 spoke 18" audi alloys but the tyre size was 255/45 zr18. Is this the right tyre size? only looking at tyre websites they list a narrower one such as 235 or 245.
    Thanks in advance!

Well I bought the car, and she's great!

Can anyone advise me about the alloywheel specs?

I have been looking at Replica wheel & Tyre packages, but it's a bit confusing. If I go for a 19" wheel then I assume my tyre size has to change from 255/45 18 to 255/40 19, but the website mentions "offsets" 35mm to 45mm and bolt pattern 5x100 - 5x112.
Can anyone tell me what this means, and whether they would be suitable for the A8?

    Thanks in advance

The offset is how far from the mounting face of the wheel the centre line of the rim is. Too far in (-ve or +ve, can't remember which) and the inside walls of the tyres will rub everything, too far out and you'll look like a chav.

The 5x100 and 5x112 is number of bolts x radius of the centre of the bolts (ie the distance from the centre of the hub to the centre of the bolts). The PCD of the new rims must be identical to that of the old ones, otherwise the bolts and holes won't line up.
