    Hi guys

I have a 2002 a4 cabby with the symphony stereo and I am looking to hook up my ipod to it (and hopefully control some functions through it)

what are the cheapest options of doing so as I dont really want to spend £80 on an audi adaptor

    any advice appreciated )

I have the xcarlink that wasn't too hard to fit HOWEVER, it won't switch off the ipod, so I have to remeber to go into the glove compartment, switch off the ipod and disconnect whenever I park up. Apparantly it's not supposed to do this, and a couple of us have posted in their part of this forum but received no reply. Apart from, it's great. Just make sure whatever you fit, you position it snuggly as my sometimes gets loose and rattles

My '04 Avant came with the Audi i-pod adaptor as part of the deal for buying it, & to be honest I haven't regretted having it fitted for a moment.

It sits unobtrusively in the glovebox, seems to turn the pod on & off ok (well, the car battery's never been flat) & through the Symphony stereo unit you can control 5 play lists on your pod, as it acts like an extra 6-cd changer (the extra playlist is the whole contents of your pod).

I know £80 may seem a lot but it is money well spent - especially when I compare it to the Belkin "thing" that my wife has in her Golf.

Another vote for the Xcarlink from me.
Its definitely the 2nd best thing I have bought for my car..... after my HIDs lol.
Easy to fit as well. My ipod turns off but seems to go into charging mode and charges off the battery..
