My 2005 RNS-E with bluetooth has suddenly decided to mute (shown as a speaker with a line though it on the main display) on all sources. After further investigation, it appears that it believes that a call is in progress (on phone screen) but I am unable to terminate the call. I have reset the unit several times (using the Radio and Setup buttons), but to no avail.

There is a faint cracking from the speakers (I suspect that this is the amplification of the non-existent call).

Firstly, I am worried that the battery will be drained (this continues even when the ignition is off and the car is locked). Will this eventually turn itself off?

Secondly, does anyone have any idea how to sort this. I took a quick look at what I believe to be the bluetooth module (under the drivers seat) and all the connections look good.

My guess is that there is a wire somewhere that is used to mute the RNE when a call is in progress, and this is damaged or shorting somewhere.

This seemed to occur shortly after I cleaned and hoovered the car out a couple of days ago.

    Nick

No, I can't unmute via the power button as usual. Some more info from the missus. Apparently it happened when she tried to pair her (Nokia) phone via bluetooth. This normally works, but seems to have left it permanently in a call.

    Thanks,

Will try that next. Will I have to enter any codes (to unlock the radio for example) once I power up?
