Fluid leaking into footwell

I've also had this problem. I put it down to the water in the pipe freezing and pressure of pump blowing the joint where the pipe comes through the bulk head. I've had the other joint in the nearside rear quarter blow a couple of times but I think this time the water must have frozen in the car before that joint due to the extreme temps. Anyway, drying out afterwards is a total 'mare, but I did manage it without removing the passenger seat, just lots of teatowels, a whole roll of kitchen paper, virtually a whole weekend with the wife's hairdryer and my mate's dehumidifier. When I manged to get every where dry to the touch, i took that as job done. As an added precaution I bought some big bags of silica gel off ebay and placed them strategically around the control units.

Now I use a stronger windsreen cleaner mixture and, if I think its been anywhere near minus 5 overnight, don't wash the rear window till afternoon!!

I've got a 54 A6 Allroad, but I suspect that washer fluid freezing in extreme temps is a problem common many breeds of car !!
