    Hi,

I'm intrigued about Bluemotions (all models) and I was wondering which diesel they use - do they use the old 1.9tdi engine with a 5sp 'box?

For the Polo, the old 1.4TDi PD with a 5spd gearbox.

For the Golf, the old 1.9TDi PD with a 5spd gearbox.

Not too sure about the type of engines for the Passat, Touran and Sharan though.

    Thanks

Odd that the Bluemotion doesn't use a 6 spd box as surely that'd be more economical?

    They have longer ratio's on 3rd, 4th & 5th.

I think volkswagen have a little unwritten rule where only the 2.0TDI gets a 6spd now.

Probably to encourage you into a more expensive 2.0TDI

All the models except the Polo use the 1.9 PD engine mated to a 5speed box which is longer on 3rd, 4th and 5th compared to the standard 5 speed box.

I have a Golf Bluemothion and this actually revs the same at cruising speeds in top than my Golf Estate 20 TDi and 6 speed box.

They say the bluemotions are lowered to improve aero efficiencies ?

How much lower are they compared to the sports suspension ?

Have they changed the suspension mounts ?

Golf bluemotion just has sports suspension from the GT etc on it.

    No moved mounts or anything.

It drops 15mm each end. This, along with different / more floor panels gives a cleaner air flow under the car and so reduces drag. The lower suspensiion is stiffer than the standard Golf but the large profile tyres make is smooth enough and very quiet.
