i've noticed the slower reving coming from a cabled 1.8 A3 sport to a DBW 2.0 FSi. Even whacking your foot flat to the floor the revs cant match your foot where they did on my old car.

I spoke to a guy on Audi-Sport.net who had his N/A 2.0 Fsi chipped and he said it wasnt really worth the money he paid. Said car was just slightly smoother on acceleration but with no noticable power gain not that he was expecting much.

Remapping a non turbo car is an exercise in futility.

yea cos im thinkin bout getting a full bmc cda filter, full exhust with high flow cat n then a re map, pricey with very little gains, looking at a final figure of around 175 - 180 bhp with a standard of 150 or i might just make the car look nice and wait till i get either the 2.0tfsi or the s3

You won’t get a 30PS gain on a naturally aspirated engine, that is the gain you see on a 180PS 1.8T engine when they go from 180 to 210PS. An exhaust will gain approx 3PS, a free flow air filter the same as will a remap so at the very most on a good day running Tesco 99 or Shell V Power, 10PS in total and this will be at the expense of some low rev torque.

i should be able to cos a remap gives gains of 15bhp but when re-mapped with a high flow filter and full custom exhaust and hi flow cat should produce 25 bhp+ well thats what i have been told by many mapping companies!

No chance, only gains will be from conventional tuning like head work, then remap will see gains but only to account for the extra flow capabilities of the engine.

Well off you go then; I know nothing, obviously the last 20 years in business modifying VAG products for more power has all been in vain…
