    Hello All
First post here so all new to me .
Just got a 2004 A4 1.8 T Cariolet today , its the one with multitronic.
I have a few questions , What is the likely fuel consumption as my last car was very heavy on fuel , also do you need a wind deflector or is there much buffeting with the roof down.
Have to say cant wait for Summer.
I am sure when I have the car for a while I will have other questions .

I got a wind defelector, proper Audi one 2nd hand on ebay for about £70 (they mispelt part of it hence why i think I got a great price). It makes a big difference however, I wouldn't bother putting it in if just driving stop start, but on the motorway, etc it is a must.

Not sure about fuel consumption on yours although iirc it is about 3-4mpg better than a 3.0 (which is what I have). Mine gets 18mpg around town (c london/stop starting). But when I do combined with motorway I get about 32mpg. I have gotten upto 40mpg before. Having said that, mine seems pretty good compared to what others have reported so god knows. Obviously, how you drive it has a huge impact on how well it does.

I have the old Cabrio and the wind deflector makes a massive difference, especially for the wife, her hair was all over the place at anything over 30mph, but with the deflector, it stays perfectly in place. It's a must on the open road, I'd say the A4's are probably the same, with the big open space for the back seats behind.

Thanks for all the advice lads , glad to hear about the fuel consumption as my last car was an ImprezaWRX STI fabulous car but was getting fed up with the fuel consumption.
20 mpg and a lot less if driven hard gets to be a real pain after a while.
Will also keep an eye on e bay for a genuine Audi deflector as its important to keep any female passsengers hair in place as Andrew said ,

But on the motorway it's muffled, so maybe there's an argument for no wind deflector

Ive got a p reg 2.8 manual cab and i love it, the big v6 is so smooth and quiet with the top down, just the v6 gurgle letting you know its there.

My average is 30.1 on the computer at the moment but it will accelerate very rapidly to 60 in second gear if i need it.

As for the wind deflector i only use it on long drives as the buffeting can give you a headache after a while or if its really cold. Yes i had the roof down in -1 over christmas and with the windows up, deflector up and heater on full its fantastic being outside on a frosty day.

But generally i prefer everything down including the windows, its just such a great feeling of being outside. Last year we drove across the breacon beacons and its the best feeling, better than a bike anyday and a lot safer and no helmet hair.

Apparantly were in for a cracking summer and my roof will be down permanent.....

How cold is it at -1? The v6 is a nice engine, but I can only get 450 miles out a tank, how does that compare with you?

-1 is chilly but with a fleece jacket and wooly hat its fine, you need to dress for being outside, even the dog loved it!!!

i get about 450 too but i wouldnt go back to my 1.9tdi A4 now yawnzzzzz
but then i wouldnt want the v6 if i was commuting 50 miles a day either.

neither would i want a v6 if it was just boring hardtop. its purely down to being a convertable that i bought it and as we dont do a lot of travelling its a great way to get anywhere.

And petrol is 25p a litre cheaper now than when i bought or £1.12 a gallon its not even dear to run really.
