Please direct me if I am in the wrong place as I am new to this forum.

Me and my old man are after seeing if there is a car gearbox that will attach on to a VW Transporter T4 with out to much of a problem obviously there will have to be some sort of adaptations but there is nothing that we shouldn't be capable of? You ask why - well my old man use to run an Bedford van with a Ha Viva gearbox as you can imagine the gear ration in a car is very different to that of a van and vast speed increase was achieved but also fuel consumption was achieved obviously things were different back then but maybe there is a solution.

Hi I would say not, considering the construction of the T4 gear box i cant think of any other VAG box that you could fit.

i would imagine that the only thing to do is to strip the gearbox and change the final drive ratio. dont know if this is possible with anything off the shelf or not, but would be a lot easier than finding another gearbox to fit.your main problem is your engine is transvers, but a passat is longditudinal.
