    hi
i have a 2003 2.5 v6 163 tdi having trouble with it starting when engine is warm....i'll try to explain a bit better..first thing in the morning even when below freezing starts with no problem so i know the heater plugs are ok..after drove for a while then parked up for an hour or so i have to churn engine for about 10 secs before she'll fire up..but say i pop in and out of shop for a few mins she'll fire up no problem..had it on computer and is not bringing up any codes..also when out for a drive she runs perfect revs out to the limit with no misses or dead spots,
has anyone else come across this problem?

    thanks in advance.

Get it to someone with genuine registered vag-com and check that the timing is within spec. If the timing is right, the coolant temp. might be duff. Also, i would pull the rocker covers and check the camshaft condition...If they worn you found the culprit, the thing is they are expensive to fix...

Yes it could, i did play with me v6 tdi pump after recconditioning and i could not get it right: it was either too advanced or too retarded. Altough it will start ok from cold, it would be lacking top end grunt and it would have stalled from taking off when hot. I traced it to a not tightened propperly pump pulley...yes, the one one the main shaft wich is set by the pump rebuilder ! Soo much hassle for a friday afternoon job (yes, i picked it up on saturday morning and its a very respectable shop...)!
