Hi all, Just thought I would share my problem and see if anyone else has experienced anything similar.
I called into ATS today to get 2 new front tyres (after only 15700 miles) and I was informed that I needed 2 rear aswell!! The tread on all tyres was wearing poorly on the outside but was okay inside - the rear were 4mm on the centre and 2mm on the outside and inside. The guy at ATS said the passenger's side looked like a tracking issue, but the driver's side was a suspension issue??
It's a lease car so the tyres will be changed but I am slightly concerned by this - i have driven many a car from brand new and also new models but never experienced this before (1st time audi driver). I would normally expect around 22k on the front and 30-35k on the rear, and at £200 a pop to the company this isn't good.
service due in 3000 miles so i will get it looked at then - I'm thinking that this could be related to the steering issue i reported on an earlier thread last week ('clicking' feedback through the wheel).

    Your thoughts?

Correct me if I'm wrong but is it the front tyres that have worn on the outside and the rears are the inner and outer? If this is the case then the wear on the rear could be caused by under inflation. The problem on the front could be a tracking issue. Having said that it could be related to the steering problem already discussed. I would get a 4 wheel alignment done to check the tacking, camber etc.
Obviously if something is out of alignment then tyre wear rate will increase. 15700 miles isn't bad for a pair of front tyres. Which tyres were you running before you changed them? There have been plenty of discussions on this forum about tyre choice and some tyres wear much quicker than others.

Hi, just had 2 x new front tyres replaced after 13K miles with no issues with rear tyres which are still 7mm depth.

One problem though I like to hav same make/model tyres all round but according to Kwik Fit and ATS the Bridgestones which come with the S-line are not made for general sale yet and can only be purchased via dealer which is much more expensive. Opted for Continental instead which are actually better for breaking in the wet/greasy roads in winter,

Just an update on my original post - on christmas eve i had to get all four tyres replaced. i also spoke to audi, who asked me to keep hold of one tyre to show them when my service is due next month. the readings on the rears were 2-4-2, and 4 michelin primacy's were put on.

i'll keep a check on future wear
