    Hi,

I am planning to change my Concert radio/casette for an aftermarket CD player. As I didn't get the radio code from the previous owner (who has mislaid it ), does anyone know if I can 'turn off' the code option prior to removing the radio, so if I decide to re-install it at a later date, I won't have problems. Unfortunately I don't have the manual for the radio either

    Many thanks

If you re-install the Concert Radio in its original vehicle it will figure out for itself that it's where it should be and you don't need the code. Otherwise give the original dealer a ring, he should keep a copy.

Thanks Sky. My car is an earlier one (1998) and I wasn't sure if the radio would 'sort itself out' without a code on cars from this date. I suppose I could try it, and if the worst happens I can get hold of the code from the dealer, as you suggest.

I was hoping there might be something I could do to disable the code using the radio buttons or VAG COM.

    Regards

Just checked my manual for you. It does say the "convenience feature" of retuning after power loss may not be fitted to all models. Give the dealer a call first and see if you can get the code. Another way is to take the radio to an independant car radio specialist if you are within range of Swindon I could recommend a good one, as they have a database of codes for all radios.

Thanks for your help Sky. I decided to take the radio out today (thinking that at worst, I would get the code from the dealer). However, I was pleased to see that my car recognised the radio without me having to input a code
