I have just been away for a weeks holiday and looked into the roof bars and roof box route

I was pointed to the roofbox company www.roofbox.co.uk and even asked their advice. It came back but was not really too helpful.

To be honest it was between £150 and £1000 for bars, roof boxes, clips, pro clips, tighteners and loads of other stuff that I didn't really know what they were for or did so in the end I didn't bother.

You need to find a mate with some experience of doing it themselves and either borrow some from them or take advice before you buy - there are just loads to choose from

    Hope this helps?

My Audi roof bars were I think about £100 but check with your local dealer.

My roofbox came from the Roofbox Company 4 years ago and has been used on a Volvo, Golfs and now the A4 using the car manufacturer's own roof bars in each case.

Roof box then was circa £200 with 'T' adaptors another £20 so not a huge amount for the roofbox which basically is a one off purchase.

Fold the seats down and you should get a 6ft tree in. We did a 5ft without problem and given the flex at the top of the tree 6ft shouldn't cause too much hassle. I was reluctant but we wouldn't get much in the wifes Yaris so, reluctantly by me, it had to be my car. I put sheets down to keep the car clean and only ended up with a few needles in the boot.
