    Hello All.

My girlfriends 2003 golf tdi's rear window demister has stopped working, I have checked the fuse and its fine. Are there any other known issues with these things?

    thanks

    Hi Brian

I've just bought a Mk4 with the same problem. It turned out to be a broken wire in the rubber boot where the wires come through from the roof to the rear hatch. I managed to re-connect the wire with a through-crimp. Don't know how long it will last though as it flexes every time you open or close the rear hatch.

    Regards
    Keith

    Hi Brian

Whilst you can't actually remove the boot completely, you can pull it out of the roof and put it back in quite easily. the hard part is joining the wire back up if it's broken. Mine was on the right hand side - the brown return wire. It's the thickest of the wires in there. The other wire on the left hand side is white.

    Regards
    Keith

    Hello There,

Yes I checked the rubber boot on the right, the thick brown wire was snappped and also the green wire was snapped. I resoldered the green one and put the brown one in a connector. thanks for your help.

    Brian
