Recently my stereo has had the dreaded volume problem. After a lot of research I have now had it fixed and thought this may help other tt owners out.

This web link contains the main info on the chip that goes faulty.
    http://www.erta.ru/review/chorus-problem_eng.shtml

The volume switch is faulty if it adjusts wierdly on volume, bass, treble etc.
The chip is faulty if it only happens on the volume. More likely.

To have your stereo repaired contact this company
    O. E. Electronics Ltd
    6 Fourbrooks Business Park
    Stanier Road
    Calne
    Wilts
    SN11 9PP
    Tel 01249 817370
It cost around £80 for the repair and the chip.

I repaired mine myself, I contacted them and had the chip posted out for £30, but unless you have the right equipment it is easier to send it of to them.

When the chip is replaced you need a Vagcom to recode for the bose operation to work.

On the vag com use 56 stereo, 07 recode,
the code should say 00407, to enable bose change it to 00017 if you have a in dash display or 00013 for standard bose and hit do it. Bose will then be enabled and the bose start up screen will reappear.

    Hopes this helps.
