Golf 1.6 SE 8 Valve Running lean

Hi, first post here.

My golf is a 1.6, 8 valve and has had a lot of work done on the engine and it still runs like siht!!

Here is what has been done:

new head gasket,
new pistons,
new inlet manifold
new oil filler neck
new throttle body
new mass air filter
new camshaft sensor
new lambda probe

and all the fault codes for these problems have been reset.

It still runs very sluggish. Some days it runs great with full power, but soon as the temp gauge hits 90 it goes sluggish again. But the majority of the time it runs sluggish. 2nd gear also seems to be quite flat out of all the gears.

I have spent a stupid amount of money on this car and therefore would like to know what the problem is. I don't really want to sell it at the moment as I can't afford to buy another car with the credit crunch etc.

Please help!!

Any suggestions to what it could be, would be much appreciated and fantastic if it can solve the problem.

Hi there, erm.. Im not sure, my mechanic should have but he has not mentioned anythin about it. I will ask him and get back to you.

By the way is there any way I can do this myself or do I need Vag com??

i believe the throttle body has to be "matched" to the ecu electronicaly.
perhaps this was overlooked?

Yea my mechanic said that when I drive the car, the throttle body should automatically configure itself to the ecu.

Is that correct or is he chattin bubbles?

i think he is mistaken,i'm sure i have read that it needs to be done electronicaly.

I couldn't tell you to be honest,

all the suggestions I get from all you very helpful people are going to be brought forward to my mechanic.

It seems like he's not been doing his job!!

What is the year and engine code, 1998 to 2000 ish and AKL? If it is running poorly, it should be generating a fault code.
