    Ive tried the methods mentioned in this forum but none seem to work. mine is a 1997 A4 1.9 Tdi, anyone got any suggestions on how to reset it.

    It tells you in the handbook that comes with the car. I think you press and hold the milage and clock reset buttonand. I'll have a look in mine and post up later.

    I`m sure its as follows: press and hold trip re-set with ignition off,
    switch ign.on
    service indicator will come on,either service or INSP
    PULL the clock adjust knob to reset as required.
    Once one re-set,you can press trip button to call up next service indicator and re-set that one.
    Hope that was right!

    got a 96 version of your car and had to get a man with a laptop to sort it out... like you i tried everything first. i was lucky the first time as the mechanic must have been bored and did it in about 5 mins, no charge, so i slipped him a tenner. just happened last month again and was not so lucky, cost me 30 pounds and had to book it in and everything. try some independent village garage and they might do it for free so you go back to them.
