    Hi all,
I have recently bought a golf tdi which I mot'd and it needs 4 new shock absorbers. I bought them from CMS (breakers) and the front 2 have different coil lengths (1 is 4 round and then in, the 1 is 5 round). Is this normal and if so which side goes on which?

    Any help greatly appreciatted.

    Ewan

I'd be very surprised if that was right, did they both come off the same car? I'm sure you know not all golfs have the same suspension.

The longer spring is from a car with SE suspenssion, the shorter from a sport one. They should be replaced in pairs. Why on earth would not buy 4 new shocks from ECP or GSF as they are fairly cheap-20-30 quid each ? How do you know they are not shot as well ?
