The clutch movement sensor is a Hall Effect device on the body of the cylinder in the engine bay.

The PQ35 platform (i.e. Golf 5) does not have a clutch pedal switch per se as on the PQ34 platform (i.e. Golf4), instead they used a Hall Effect device on the clutch master cylinder in the engine bay and this used the same power supply as the brake pedal switch which was of the more conventional pedal box mounted design used from 1983.

In the engine bay, bolted to the bulkhead, below and to the cars left of the brake servo, behind the engine and very difficult to access.
