    Hi,

I would be grateful if you could all help me!

I have a 2001 VW Golf GT TDI 110HP. For some reason, when taking the car up to 65-70MPH, it shuts the power off and the turbo feels like it isnt coming in.

If I turn the engine off and back on again, it is perfect again until hitting that speed.

There are no lights present on the dash.

Does anyone have any information? I would appreciate it.

    Kind Regards,

    James

Would need to be plugged in to be correct but normal reasons are either maf sensor or boost pressure regulator, there both very common for the symptoms
I dont work here for the pay,or the enjoyment,so why do i work here

Sounds like a MAF (air flow meter) problem. I've come across two similar problems; one on a mk4 GTTdi and the other on my mk3 tdi estate. Both cars felt normal to drive at part throttle but at high to full throttle it was as though someone had thrown out the anchor and chain - absolutely no go at all. On the motorway part throttle acceleration was OK and could get up to 60-70 depending on the gradient. On a hill the speed just fell away; pressing the accelerator did nothing. They're easy to change and seem to be readily available on e-bay if you're prepared to take a chance on someone telling the truth about their "geniune VW" part. If not, get one from VW at about £75.00 but make sure you match the part number whichever you choose.

I would expect a fault code read to show overboost code “17965 (P1557) Charge pressure control limit exceeded”, so probably sticking turbo vanes.

carbed vanes could be the problem, but seen as the vanes adjust using readings from the MAF (and others) i doubt it...

my bet is the MAF... and is MUCH cheaper than geting the turbo re-conned.

    PS... PD115
