rear fog lights

Just had a towbar fitted and noticed i have 1 rear fog light - drivers side. Not sure if i had 2 before ? . Fitter tested the curcuit and all was ok - just curious.

lots of cars only have 1 fog light, the law requires only one in this country but some countries dictate 2, so cars are fitted with the facility to have 2 but quite often only have 1, there might be power to the light but no bulb fitted, or the hole in the lamp for the bulb blanked, or no contacts in the bulb holder for a 2nd bulb.

A4 -B6 - has one rear fog light on the right..

They is a blank bulb for the left which is not wired up.... this is for the EU left hand drive market..

The reason for 1 fog light is for safety... 2 rear fog lights in thick fog look like brake lights... 1 fog light ensure other drives can tell the differance between you braking and fog lights..

cheers guys , don`t know why but i thought i may have had two. have spoken to a few mates who also confirm what you have said... safety ... two fogs would look like brake lights.
