toyed with the idea of getting rid of egr and fitting blanking plates, but am unsure what the vaccum pipe blanking off would do. as its not a larger bore egr like on the golfs that ive seen on internet, the egr on mine is tiny. after undoing it to check for blockages etc, there seems to be hardly any crap in the manifold and certainly no restriction to exhaust gas. have just registered my vag com and am waiting for the code to register it back off ross tech. adjusting the egr when i get it to see what affect it has on all the air sensors etc.

anything i should maybe not do?

allard say they do a pipe for the 110 but im pretty sure it isnt for the afn engine

it does seem like a pretty weedy valve on the afn anyway, so i guess i'll just do it when my vag com code comes. will post results on here anyway, anything i see that changes on vag scope etc

have done it via vag com and it works a treat now, better than blanking off i reckon and keeps it looking stock

The simplest way is to remove the rubber vac tube, and push a tight fitting ballbearing into it, then reconnect to the EGR.

Vagcom does not seem to reduce the EGR function very much over standard.

All things considered, I would keep the EGR functioning at the reduced level, unless you are trying to squeeze every drop of power from the engine.

it is only set to the figure given on here, cured my engine stutter though so im quite happy about that. would never bodge my engine with a ball bearing or anything?!

I tried blocking the vacuum tube and plugging the breather holes in the EGR to stop the oil sputtering, when I drove the car it had no power above 3000 RPM, seemed to go into limp mode. I did not expect this, could it have been remapped with a leaky EGR and blocking the breather holes take it above max boost pressure? I have had it turned down in Vagcom for months but the oil sputtering is a bind and a new EGR seems a lot of money to cure it.
I checked for error codes afterwards but nothing showed.
