Unfortunately, it excludes all M - Manchester, L - Liverpool, OL - Oldham & SK1-12 - Stockport postcodes and Northern Ireland.

Why does it exclude these postcodes? I am in SK11 postcode and never had any issue with insurance??

Unfortunately it's all to do with claims statistics.

An inordinately high number of claims come from these postcodes, simple as that. It's not a case of a few points higher but a much greater percentage than the norm.
The insurers did actually tinker with individual postcodes but it didn't work sadly. I suppose 'once bitten, twice shy'.

The scheme would just not exist if the insurers included these postcodes because of the losses that these have historically caused.

Hmmmm, Interesting! I didnt realise that.
Guess I will have to go with the quotes I got the other day then...(which I have to say were pretty good anyway, so alls not lost)

Maybe that's why Chris Knott couldn't help me on my T5... I'm in SK8.

My son will be taking his lessons in April, he will be a new driver and in an SK8 postcode. He doesn't stand a chance. We were quoted £3,200 on an insurance group 1 car!

WHATWHATWHAT???? 3200 quid?? Hells Bells, what car was that?

Its bizarre though, I didnt realise this area was such a high risk, especially based on my recent quotes (360 quid fully comp, 450 with guaranteed NCB....thought that was pretty good!)

That was on a 55bhp 1.2 VW Fox. Even a poxy Fiesta was £3,500!

It's all too much and the insurance companies know it.

That's extortionate! £3,500 grand is what I was quoted for an S3 when I was 17 on 3rd Party Fire and Theft insurance! :O

Tell me about it. It is a con.

The car is affordable, the relatively little miles he will be doing means fuel is affordable, but the insurance simply isn't.

Tried a quote with him on my wife's insurance as a named driver, still £3,450.

No longer are we looking at VW Boras and Audi A2s for him, now it's Mk3 Golfs...
