    Hey Guys,

Just hoping to draw on the expertees of one of the many computer genii on here.....

My laptop screen has recently taken to going completely blank, albeit illuminated with a random colour.....first few times it was white, but just now it was red. Only way I can get it back is re-booting....

Does this mean my trusty computer is on its way to expiry?....

Any thoughts gratefully received, but I think I may already know the answer

Try checking on the manufacturer's web site, the colours may be a code relating to a specific problem.

if its dell they provide some diagnostic tools on their website, just type in your asset tag and it should come up with drivers and software related to your laptop. You can download and burn the diagnostics and just boot from cd, It runs through test on nearly everything and should pin point whats wrong with it.

Link to diagnostics download - http://support.euro.dell.com/support...up&file=150682

And link to page which has all the drivers etc on

    http://support.euro.dell.com/support...n&catid=&impid

Not a problem, not a big fan of the dell website it tends to be a bit of a pain to find things on, and dont even get me started on their technical support line. We are a business customer of theirs where I work and I have had several run ins with their call centre monkeys!
