Mud Benind Front Wings - Water Trap

I just thought Id mention a job that is well worth doing, takes about an hour

Mud and silt etc builds up behind the plastic splash panels at the rear of the front wings (Behind where the mudflaps fit) This mud and silt etc holds water and could well in time cause corrosion problems Its easy to get rid of, just remove the front wheels to gain easy access to the five hex screws that require removing, the rear of the splash panel will then easily pull away enough to dig out the mud and rinse with a hose It was a good 5 inches deep both sides on my Golf!

The weight saving and increased fuel economy alone makes it a job worth doing!!

Now all I need to do is the the full stop button etc on my keyboard working!

Will do this on mine I think. The mudflaps were fitted from new so god knows how much dirt is trapped behind. Will post up what I find

Yep, remove the mudflaps (Held on with two hex screws, though I used stainless steel ones and penny washers in mine), there are then a futher two or three to remove in order to pull the plastic splash panel away enough to get to the mud etc! I rekon you will find it around 5 inches deep!
