Hi, my advise is to fit the dension 300 kit which will allow you to retain the 6 disc as well as using the ipod. The oem ipod dock is poor compared to the dension which allows id tags to be displayed on the dash so you can scroll your artist and playlist

    Hi A8 Tech

I have an A8 2006 on a 56 with MMI high (I think) it has tv etc.

I asked my local Audi dealer about the the AMI interface and he told me it is only available on 2007 models onwards. This doesn't seem to fit with what I have seen around the place.

Could you confirm or deny? i really don't want a crappy kit but I really do need my iPod working!

    Thanks

dealer is incorrect, simply update the mmi software then add the ami and retain the 6 disc also.

Hi, you appear to be the guru around here. Appologies if you have already answered this question but it quite a long post. Can you tell me what I will need to do to install a RNS-E unit to my A3 Black Edition with Bose? Also can I add an iPod interface to this (one that allows searching the ipod on the RNS-E unit). Can you give me a cost for the required parts?

I'm based near Portsmouth if that helps?

I have just bought a 2005 A3 1.9tdi SE fitted with Concert radio/cd - any recommendations as to connecting an ipod - Classic &/or 1-3g Nano models. I've looked at Dension ice>link one, Dension Gateway 100, Connects2 ipod adptor (either CTAADIPOD003 or 004, not sure which is correct item for my car - how do you tell which model Concert radio is fitted?) as well as Connects2 iplugrds-n. The C2 iplugrds-n seems to win on price and functionality (ipod click-wheel control, in-car charging and head unit track information display - circa £75) but I'd be interested in hearing views on fitting an ipod adptor and the pros/cons of what is available. Thanks.

If it's a double-din Audi Concert stereo you have Mick, I'm pretty sure it'll be a Concert III. Concert II should be a single din single CD player.

Click wheel control is a big positive, I used to have an old Dension ICE Link+ which is well out of date now, it was always a pain being forced to use the headunit to select tracks. ID tags on the stereo also looks good.

Never used the Dension G100 or the C2, so I'm not best qualified to offer an opinion on those...
