Looking to replace the front speakers (doors and a pillars) on my 9N MK5 Polo, and it looks like you have to remove the whole door panel to get to the speakers?

Anyone got a step by step guide to removing the panels?

Also anyone know if there will be wires running to the rear doors for speakers? i know for def there are no speakers in the rear doors but if the wires are there id be tempted to put a pair in...

Just in case anyone is intrested, I changed the speakers, had to take the door card off to do this.
The pics below show the passengers door:

This shows the speaker, the two holes to the right are where the card clips go in.

This shows the card removed ( well nearly - didnt disconnect the door handle cable). It shows the third clip near the door hinge, a forth just above the connector block ( the hex shaped thing) and also the location of the two bolts holding the inside door handle on. One is painted grey - just under the top of the window and the second is at the bottom of the handle which you can also see.

This shows the clips on the door card, three on the outer side, four on the inner side ( see pic 5)

This one shows the requirement to drill out the rivits which hold the speaker to the door.

and lastly this one shows the three clips on the card nearest the door hinge.

Back doors didnt have wires running to them, and confusingly i couldnt tace the red and red/brown wires for the speaker to the connector that is used between the door and car body... ended up using the speaker ISO at the back of the unit to do the wiring...

was it just a case of being firm when pulling of the door card?
    , did anything break?

Im sure there is a proper way to do this, but i never figured it out... i put two screw drivers in on either side of the clip and applied gentle but firm pressure until it popped off...

There are tools available to replace the two screwdrivers which are designed to remove them but for the sake of two doors i didnt bother.

Would you recommend using Dynamat or any sound deadening on the doors?

Also, did you just replace the speaker on the door or did you do the tweeter as well?

I have a 9N3 polo and thinking about replacing the front speakers & tweeters with components and possibly adding components in the rear door as well....

    Thanks!
