    Hey all
just got ourselves a used 04 golf tdi se, absolutely love it btw.

Q is, its on 89000miles full vw service history and just had major 1, ie timing belt ect.
what id like your opinions on is would it be worth putting Mobil 1 in and servicing myself with genuine VW service kit £43 from fleabay, but NO garage stamp from now on, or pay £??? for vw service and keep up the stamps? would this make the re-sell value plummet over the next 4-5yrs im intending to keep it? as its high mileage anyway,
id much rather service it myself using better quality oils and saving money.

An ongoing problem this one. Personally, I get my 2.0FSI seviced at the selling dealer, Richard Alexanders Leeds, the last bill was £218. Now that is a lot for an inspection and oil change BUT, it only gets done every two years so £109 /year AND as car is over 3 years, they do the MOT tests for free saving over £50 /year so now £59 /year. Does your £43 include the cost of the oil. If not my main dealer service, fully stamped book etc is going to be cheaper than your DIY approach, and in any event, good value!

i think ill do as yourself and goto a garage for piece of mind, i didnt know the cost of main dealer prices but £200ish sounds pretty reasonable to me.
