Nearside rear door will not unlock

The nearside rear door of my MK4 5 door golf will no longer unlock. When I operate the central locking all the doors and boot lid will lock/unlock apart from the nearside rear door which remains locked. Anybody know what the fault maybe and how do I get the door to unlock?

We have exactly the same problem, had it for around four months now. So if anyone knows a work around to try, please let us know. Have been quoted £200 to sort the problem out by taking the inside panel off and working from there.

my guess is faulty/broken wiring. i had a similar problem with the boot which would not lock. i exposed the wires by pulling the rubber sleeve back and revealed 2 broken wires. a bit of tricky soldering later and i got it working again. your best bet is to open your door and pull the rubber sleeve back and check the wiring. failing that take off the door panel and check connections to the lock (unlikely). hope this helps.

I have the same problem also, my boot has gone now aswel.

I can imagine its something to do with the wiring like mentioned, just cant get round to sortin it out tho!
