Just bought a 2004 A3 TDi 140 sport with 60K. Seems good apart from worn front bearing (result of a curb collision). Head was replaced under warranty at 42K. Anyhow noticed that the rear pads are worn to literally 1mm - is this normal on an A3 this age and mileage? Never seen pads so worn on a Golf - guy in Halfords said 'we don't stock the pads as they don't wear out' - whatever!

My rear pads went quicker than the fronts on my A3, although I only have the 100 Sport on an 05.

You are probably better off with a brake specialist/motor factor for the pads rather than Halfords.

I changed mine at 30k i think, the fronts were worn so they needed doing, I asked them to do the rears as well but they were not as bad as the fronts. They probably would of lasted another couple of thousand miles.
