loss of throttle response

Hi there
whilst out driving my A4 1.9 tdi the other day put my foot down to accelerate but nothing happened engine still running but no throttle response . so switched off and restarted and all seamed well 2nd time this has happened any body got any ideas to this problem

possible reasons
1 the pump
2 the throttle pedal
3 water ingress accross the electrical terminals in the multi plug from the throttle pedal to the engine bay loom to the pump.

Thanks a8 tech tried new throttle pedal but same thing happening so thinking of looking at the water ingress problem what would be the best way to proceed would it be a case of giving it a squirt of moisture repellant or is there more to it than that Thanks
