Check the Central Electrics unit 09 for fault codes.

I've checked for a fault code and got 01598-drive battery voltage
Not sure what it means or if its relevant.

    Anyway,
From what I can gather, the fans (both) run on a slower speed when the air con is in use and a higher speed if the engine over heats.

As my fans are running on a low speed (and I changed the radiator fan sensor) I'm tending to rule out that side of things and think that maybe something in the air con system is switching them on. I just need to find out what else (apart from switching on the air con) could be starting the fans ?

Drive battery voltage is the battery voltage itself. Scan the HVAC for codes.

Yes I've scanned the HVAC, no fault codes.

    Hello,
I want to swap my Air con conrol unit, from my VW Touran, part Number 1T2 820 045, with one from a VW Golf MK5, part number 1K2 820 045. Would this swap be OK and if so will the replacement controller need coding ?

    Thanks, Dave

1T2 820 045 is not a good number but 1K2 820 045 changed to 1K2 820 045 B and it only fits the Eos, Golf 5 and Jetta 5. That part number is only for the trim though, not for the controls. I think you need 1K0 820 047 FT WHS but that is only a guess and is a new number, the original has changed part number the times so must have been giving trouble, making the fans run maybe?

    Hi Crasher,

Thanks for your reply, yes I gave the wrong number I'm pretty sure its
    1T2 820 047CB (but it could be 1K2 820 047CB) So would the later
1K2 820 047B 'work' on the Touran? Its from a breakers and is the nearest part number I could find.

I'm looking at the air con side and thought that replacing the control module would rule it out, as I can't really see what else would trigger the fans?? I'm starting to get a bit desperate! and fed up with it!!!!

    1T2 820 047 CB isn’t a good number either.

    1K0 820 047CB is 1K0 820 047 B REH which changed to;

    1K0 820 047 CR REH

    1K0 820 047 EF REH

    1K0 820 047 DF REH

    1K0 820 047 DP REH

    1K0 820 047 FH WHS

    1K0 820 047 GK WHS

    1K0 820 047 FT WHS

Frankly I have never seen a part change number so many times in such a short time.
