    Hello
Has anyone fitted a tow bar to a T5 using the VW electrics.
Bought the kit but there are two pages of the instructions missing.

I can do the RHS but where does the blue wire and the really long Brown wires go on the LHS?

    Thanks

dragging up an old post I know!
how did you get on with the can bus programming?
have you done it with vagcom or not bothered with it?
does anyone know which modules to change using vagcom?

Bought the tow bar from tow-equip really easy to fit. No cutting needed.
Bought the VW kit for the wiring (can't remember how much)
Found that half the wiring instructions were missing.
Nice chap at the VW garage e-mailed it to me. New instructions still very vague.
    No vagcom needed.
Just join the connectors, but if you got parking sensors it could be far more difficult.
You need to take a really (really) long brown wire all the way to the front and join it to the relevant relay.
If you try to join a normal wiring kit into, the cambus, you can fudge the whole lot up. Didn't think it was worth it.
    Quite enjoyed doing it though.

That's a kind offer - can I take you up on it?

I've just fitted a towbar to my 2004 (53 plate) T5. I can't see any tranceivers in the wiring at the rear of the van - is it a true CANbus system?
I suppose the safest way to proceed is to wire the towing socket using the bypass relay anyway; presumably a pre-CANbus system could be wired this way without ill effect, but obviously you can't wire up a CANbus system WITHOUT a bypass relay (or other smart device).

Anyone care to comment on this?
