Recently bought a T-reg MK4 Golf 1.6 Auto & the fan/blower has just decidied not to work! I seem to remember it once not being on when it should have been, then it simply 'kicked' in on it's own. Now though, it just doesn't want to come on at all!

Any ideas where to start looking? Fuses? Fan Motor? Connections?

    Any suggestions appreciated.

does your temp gauge on your dash move to the correct point, or is it fluctuating in its reading etc.

Best maybe trying the fuse first, then the switch and finally the motor.

The fuse is easiest to get to followed by the switch and then the motor. A multi-meter might come in handy!

Most likely to be either a faulty switch or dodgy brushes/connection in motor

ON my 98 jetta the fan will also come on if you turn on the A/C. So you can check the fan motor that way if the fuse is good or dissconnect the connnection and check the high and low speed of the fan by jumping the wires to a 12volt supply. Mine had the same problem and it ended up being the fan switch or temp coolant switch mounted on the radiator.
