You don't mention which bulb but both are very easy.

Basically, if its the front set of lights above the driver/passenger then you need to pull off that whole panel.

    Easiest way is
open the sunglasses holder by pushing it in
grab the plastic panel and yank it down

What you will find is it 3 parts will seperate and go everywhere (sometimes two)
the parts should be the main plastic cover, followed by the centre bit that has the two larger bulbs in and a bit of chrome plastic that decorates it.

Change the bulb and just clip the panel back in.

the rear ones above the rear seats is just a flat screw driver job and pry the plastic holder out.

If the two front bulbs (the brighter ones above the larger plastic bit) has blown, you will need to replace it with a Festoon type bulb (unsure of size)
If the front set or the rear seat ones have gone, they are a different type.

I replaced all of mine to be the LED type ones...the Festoon having 24 LEDs on it... VERY bright and white too!

Anyone know how to take this cover off on the older A6? I've a 2001 and my "Passenger Airbag Off" light intermittently flashes and I want to check for a loose wire.
