Haha... I do tend to visit late in the evening...

If it wasn't for the light ending, I would still be building my garage. It's a slow process doing it yourself, and my wife is beginning to whinge about as well !

What's going in the garage Paul?

I have an inkling of how hard. I built our conservatory, though had loads of help from Mrs QV and my dad, who is a retired joiner.

We bought the house 7 years ago, and converted the garage (connected to the house) into a living room. Now we need a garage again, and we are building one beside the house.

It is being built for two or three purposes. The first being to give me a sheltered work area, the second being for storage. I was also hoping to buy my son an accident damaged car for his first car, and was hoping to do it up in somewhere dry. Once that project is complete, the A6 will be put in there overnight, save it getting dirty from the busy A34 I live beside.

I'm the builder in the family (property maintenance engineer). Like yourself, I get help from my dad, he's still good for labour at 70 !

    Paul

EDIT: Just if you're wondering, for his first car we are looking at either a damaged Bora, Golf Mk5, Leon, Ibiza or even an A2. The only thing that puts me off the A2s is that they are all 3 cylinders.

    Aye, Gatley lights...

He to is beginning to slow down... I'm sure he has less energy than he used to. It coincides with his 24 year old half Spanish son (my half brother) leaving home, me thinks he is becoming a little lonely, having divorced his wife about 3 years ago.

Think you have a point. My dad retired a year last April. He told me when he was helping me with the conservatory which was about 2002 that when he gave up work he would slow down

These changes affect em big time

You're right, and now this scares me... my son jokingly said I'd still be knocking houses down and re-building them at 70. I told him "you gotta be kidding"... but maybe he's right ?

    Who knows...
